Insipid Lie

We had our own reasons for all of our problems,
But then you never wanted a reason to care.

The space between us, an eternity
Like the closeness of our lips
And the entwining of our fingertips.

You’re standing right next to me,
But I can barely see you,
So far away,
Through the blur of tears

Your time is an embolism
Distill your emotions
Dull and Heavy
This overcast intermezzo

I shiver in the rain,
Your rain.
It’s cold,
How you are now
And I want to be an intelligentsia from our relationship,
If that’s what you can call this insipid lie

Shoot me up with insulin
So I can have the energy to survive these last few days
Of your mental disease you call a game.
I won’t let you toy with my heart any longer.
I’m through.

Your time is an embolism.
Distill your emotions.
Dull and Heavy,
This overcast intermezzo.

A full eclipse of the sun
And my back is turned.
I’ve lost sight of my reasons to fight this.

I’m not giving up or giving in.
I’m letting go.
